Toy Story 5 Trailer Sets Woody and Buzz Against a Tablet Computer
It has been 30 anniversary since the original Toy Story movie was released, launching the animation giant as a leading film company and introducing viewers to beloved figures like the cowboy doll (the actor) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.
Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed this week, providing a brief look into the plot but leaving viewers wondering how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Toys
The preview reveals Bonnie — who inherited the toy collection when he left for college — getting a brand new plaything, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. She acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.
Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the toys appear to consider it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it probably is.
Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
One thing the trailer doesn't touch on is what Woody is back with his companions in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (the actress), traveling with a carnival and helping prize toys find good homes.
Surely, the filmmakers will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him appear in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is a little strange, though. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have come back with Woody. And where is Duke Caboom (the star)?
Connections from the Previous Film
At the very least, some elements are carrying over from the earlier movie. The last thing the cowboy did before departing for his fresh path was pass his sheriff badge to Jessie (the voice actor), entrusting her as the leader of the toy domain. In the teaser displays the insignia attached to her shirt.
It is hoped she is remains the key figure among the group.
Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on the scheduled date.
