Authorities mentioned they were alerted by a man who discovered a automobile in Hanau smeared with reddish substance

Approximately 50 automobiles have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.

Automobiles, building surfaces and postboxes were vandalized, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they stated in a statement.

Police report they were notified late on Wednesday, when a man observed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored fluid.

The fluid had been applied in the shape of a swastika, they stated.

Officers then found many other marked automobiles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.

Swastikas are banned in Germany under laws prohibiting the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.

Officials report early analysis indicate the fluid was likely human blood.

"Currently there is no clue as to its origin; authorities are not yet cognizant of any harm in relation with the event," they commented.

Municipal representatives said they were attempting "to unravel the case" and have requested to the public for tips.

A high-ranking official commented the incident left him without words and required to be solved rapidly.

"This event hits the core of Hanau and revives the wounds of the extremist violent incident five years ago," he posted on online, recalling the murder of nine individuals by a assailant aiming at individuals of foreign heritage in February 2020.
