In a unexpected partnership that defies usual forecasts, Ubisoft has announced an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event operates from November 25 through December 22, providing no-cost additional story content for Shadows players.

Mysterious Mission Revealed

According to the authorized release, "A strange meeting pulls characters Naoe and Yasuke into a original adventure, where rumors of prohibited rituals and monstrous transformations echo through the shadows." The storyline features a "strangely garbed woman named Ada" who assigns the pair with journeying into the Crystal Cave—a key location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her ally from a secret group.

The questline focuses on "peculiar tests and a fearsome adversary" and is available to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.

Recognizable Settings and Changes

The trailer highlights the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was formerly where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The preview ends with a striking scene showing a character, presumably the captive, transforming into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.

Special Items and Extra Content

Players who accomplish the adventure will receive an special katana in addition to several objects concealed throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also features purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, offering:

• Titan-themed outfit for Yasuke
• Mikasa outfit for Naoe
• Unique implements
• Survey Corps mount

Third Free Story Addition

This patch also adds the game's third complimentary story content, titled "The Enigma." This humorous adventure partners Naoe and Yasuke as they swap signature techniques: Naoe introduces a performative variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns subduing stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "A Puzzlement" also includes a new environmental puzzle that may finally clarify some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

Earlier Anime Collaborations

This marks not the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with well-known anime franchises. The series earlier featured a 2020 crossover story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla unofficially contained a quest that obviously referenced the famous series One-Punch Man.
